Small French Paintings

Went to the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.

First up was the Small French Paintings Gallery,
Here are some that stood out to me.

Love this one!

Clipper Mill

Corradetti Glass Studio & Gallery
is located in beautiful, historic Clipper Mill
in the Woodberry neighborhood near Hampden.
Gina and I went to visit my friend Zach who works at the glass studio.
Click the link above to see the studio and beautiful work of Anthony Corradetti,
unfortunately I did not take any photos of the studio- but the architecture around and connected to the glass studio in this little Clipper Mill area was really cool!
Gina.

The glass and steel sculpture is a work by Corradetti.

Delaware Art Museum

.June 14th 2012,
Visited Delaware Art Museum, what a great collection!
Took some shots of some of my favorites, they allow pictures with no flash.
Unfortunately my time was constricted out of respect for the tour and docent, and with battery low I did not get the names and titles for most of these works, so you need to go for yourself!
This painting is a segment from the story of Tobit from the Apocrypha. The blind Tobit, a captive in Nineveh, sends his son Tobias to collect a debt in Media. Tobias marries the seven times widowed virgin, and by fish gall dispatches the demon who had killed her husbands.Tobias(the male figure holding the fish) collects the debt, returns by way of an angel(sexually ambiguous figure in back), and the father's sight is restored. Tobias left Nineveh before it was destroyed. I just thought it was such an interesting painting depicting this blind man, and something about it gets you in the gut.
Beautiful warm landscape especially the tree.

Awesome painting, the greyhound really makes it interesting.

The soldiers, details, explosions and over-all composition are amazing in this painting.

I think I have a favorite stain-glass piece now.

Took this because I love this guy's face.

One of the baddest Andrew Wyeth paintings! (Baddest in a good way)(awesome)

Edward Hopper- Summertime, 1943
Oil on Canvas.
The docent said his wife was- I think it was near 70 at the time but Edward would tend to paint her more like she had never aged sense when they had met.

Brandywine River Museum

On June 14th 2012 I visited the Brandywine River Museum, which started out as a 19th-century grist mill and is now internationally known for its unparalleled collection of works by three generations of Wyeths and its fine collection of American illustration, still life and landscape painting.

This is a view of the Actual Brandywine River in Chadds Ford, PA, from the inside of the museum.

Looking to the left at the river and bank, notice the bronze cow chilling in the shade

Here are some pictures of some of the paintings,
though you are not allowed to take pictures in the museum,
so I was stopped soon after beginning.

I was pretty sad about the no photography rule, especially when we got to the N.C. Wyeth collection, an artist and painter I highly recommend that anyone-everyone check out, WOW!
So here are some pics stolen from random online sources to give you a glimpse of some N.C. Wyeth.

.
Also Jamie Wyeth's portrait of Pig in the museum blows my mind, when you see the paint in person it's absolutely awesome.
Photographs do not do justice to a painting in comparison to seeing it in person!

Andrew Wyeth Studio

Andrew Wyeth Studio

I went with another CCBC faculty to an invitation to an open tour of Andrew Wyeth's personal studio in April 2012.
(The Chadds Ford studio where Andrew Wyeth, one of America's most significant artists, painted many of his most important works of art, will open for tours in the summer of 2012. Given to the Brandywine Conservancy by the artist's wife, Betsy James Wyeth, the studio has undergone careful restoration to preserve its appearance when it was used by the late artist.

Wyeth painted in the studio from 1940 until 2008. Thousands of works of art are associated with this studio, including those inspired by the farms and open space of the Brandywine Valley, and the Brandywine River that runs through Chadds Ford and the surrounding countryside. )
Photos from my tiny crappy phone.

He collected a-lot of military memorabilia that covers the rooms in his studio house, everything was well-preserved and for me it was an amazing opportunity to see a little more into such an awesome American Painter's life.

A part of the Brandywine River Museum.
